What is it?

The High Performance Package is CINCINNATI’s four-part field upgrade to the CL-900 series of fiber laser cutters. Once installed, you’ll see your laser’s productivity, functionality, capacity and part quality improve immediately and permanently. On top of the retrofits to existing CL-900 machines, the HPP package will be is part of every new CL-900 we build and ship.

What are the features and benefits?

Four key features make up the High Performance Package:

1. Improved Dynamic Power Control (DPC)

When you’re cutting with a laser at full power, you can melt and blow out the material you need to get a clean cut. But that changes at the corners. The slowdown can generate too much heat, which means you burn off too much material. Not ideal.

Enter our improved DPC, which optimizes the relationship between power and feedrate to produce better edge quality. Think of it as DPC 2.0—an enhanced version of our existing dynamic power control.

2. Precision Pierce

Most of our competitors have some version of an air blast nozzle to prevent crashes, but now, thanks to Precision Pierce, we don’t have to. With thicker mild steel, you don’t have a cratering effect and you won’t have re-cast material. And say goodbye to climbing into the machine to scrape away that re-cast material.

With Precision Pierce, you’ll see faster, cleaner piercing, less spatter and increased consumable life. You’ll also be able to cut smaller features into thicker materials and introduce less heat into the part.

3. Enhanced Height Sensing

This is an improved control system for our existing height sensing. In this update, we optimized the control system gains. Let’s say you’re trying to cut thin materials. Well, now you can track faster. We improved tracking on wavy materials by about 20%.

4. High Speed Nozzle

The results are in, and they’re something else: the high speed nozzle will change things for the better.

•    Cut faster when cutting with nitrogen

•    1/4” mild steel has a nearly 50% increase in speed

•    3/16” mild steel nearly doubled the feedrate

With the high speed nozzles, you’ll get much faster cutting with nitrogen and with air, plus the ability to cut certain thicknesses you couldn’t with nitrogen.
