Dynamic Thickness Compensation

Normal material thickness variations found in commercial steel can cause angular variations when air bending. CINCINNATI's Dynamic Thickness Compensation (DTC), standard on MAXFORM and AUTOFORM+ press brakes, enables the press brake to automatically compensate for variations in material thickness to produce the desired air bend angle, bend after bend, part after part.

The control measures the material thickness and calculates a unique ram reversal position for each bend by using force data from strain gages mounted on the machine housings and tool geometry stored in the tool library. The result is increased air bend consistency with fewer angle corrections.

CINCINNATI’s Dynamic Thickness Compensation provides accurate bending capability over a broad variety of materials. Parts bent with "true" air bend dies, generating more than 3% of the machine's capacity and having included angles between 75 and 155 degrees may benefit from CINCINNATI's Dynamic Thickness Compensation.
